Chicago Storm News Release

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. - U.S. Futsal National Team head coach Keith Tozer announced his official 12-man roster Wednesday for the CONCACAF Futsal Championship. Chicago Storm goalkeeper Jeff Richey (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and midfielders Andy Rosenband (Hammond, Ind.) and Matthew Stewart (El Paso, Texas) are headed to Guatemala City, Guatemala, for the tournament, which runs from June 3 to 8.

"I'd like to congratulate Jim, Andy and Matt on being a part of the U.S. Futsal National Team," Storm head coach Steve Morris said Wednesday. "It's a credit to their dedication and their abilities as players to represent the national team. I wish everyone, coach Keith Tozer and especially our players, the best of luck in the CONCACAF Championship."

"We are really excited about the team going down there to defend our CONCACAF Championship and qualify for the World Cup," Tozer said.

The U.S. departs for Guatemala on May 28 and opens the tournament in Group B play against Haiti on June 3. The top three teams in the CONCACAF qualify for the FIFA Futsal World Cup from Sept. 30 to Oct. 19 in Brazil.

Futsal features four field players and a goalkeeper on each team. Unlike the MISL, futsal has no walls, the ball is smaller and has less bounce than traditional soccer balls, and the goals are much smaller. The game was invented in Brazil, and it is sanctioned by FIFA as the only form of international indoor soccer.

The Chicago Storm are members of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Storm offices are located at 5333 Prairie Stone Pkwy., in Hoffman Estates.
