Chicago Storm News Release
MELROSE PARK, IL - Chicago Storm Summer Soccer Camps, presented by AMCORE Bank, are back and even better than before! After a successful first season of camps that saw over 570 children attend, the Storm has already surpassed that number this year, with more than 650 children signed up and more joining every day. Spreading throughout the entire Chicagoland area with 27 locations, camps begin Monday June 11th and run through August 17th. Camps are run by actual Chicago Storm players and are broken down by Mini-kickers (children 4-6 years old), Half Day Camps (9am-noon), Full Day Camps (9am-3pm) and a special Striker/Keeper Camp to be held one week in Dundee.
Chicago Storm Camp Director and head coach Steve Morris spoke about his first foray into Chicago Storm Summer Soccer. "I'm very much looking forward to it. I'm thrilled with the response from the parents of returning children and that we've already exceeded last years totals before we've even begun the camps. It's encouraging to see the success but it also lets us know that we have a responsibility on our end to work hard to make it a special experience for the kids." Coach Morris continued, "The coaching staff and Storm players love interacting with the fans, I think that's what makes these camps so special but it's also our job to help develop each child to be good players and also good people. As an organization we look forward to building on the momentum of a very successful season and I personally just look forward to getting out there and working with the campers."
Parents and children alike seemed to enjoy the Storm Summer Camp experience last season. One father wrote, "I just wanted to let you know how much my daughter enjoyed your camps last year. Before we pulled out of the parking lot on the last day, my daughter asked if she could return to camp next year. Thanks for everything."
Another Parent wrote, "My son has participated in several week long camps, the Chicago Bulls, the White Sox etc. The Storm camp rated right up there with regards to professionalism and organization. What took it to the next level for us was having the actual Storm players as coaches! My son had a blast due to their interaction and enthusiasm! We'll definitely be back again!"
Camp Director and Storm Goalkeeper/Assistant Coach Jim Larkin also looks forward to the start of camps. "I'm very excited about my first season of camps. This is a program that has proven to work, here as well as other MISL cities. It's well structured and I think that parents as well as the children will enjoy the experience." Larkin continued, "It's a regimented program that stresses two elements, working hard and having fun. We'll stress both to the campers and in the end having fun is what summer is all about. "
