Chicago Soul FC News Release

The Matchups

Friday, December 28 vs. Missouri Comets - 7:30 p.m. (CST)

Saturday, December 29 vs. Wichita Wings - 7:35 p.m. (CST)

The Chicago Soul (3-8) look to begin a winning streak, piggybacking off of their big victory over the Baltimore Blast (9-2) last Friday. With the 12-10 win, Chicago handed Baltimore its first loss of the season. The Soul will now try to earn their second victory at home when they host the Missouri Comets (5-6) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT at the Sears Centre Arena.

The Soul will then hit the road to take on the Wichita Wings (3-6) for the first time this season. Kickoff is set for 7:35 p.m. CT at the Hartman Arena.

On the Radar

Eric Lukin led the Soul to victory over the Blast after scoring a pair of goals, including one from the 3-point range. Lukin's five-point performance also landed him on the MISL Team of the Week. The Soul will turn to Lukin again this weekend to provide the squad with offensive power against the Comets and the Wings.

Jeff Richey, also named to the MISL Team of the Week, had a total of 24 saves on 29 shots during Friday's rendevouz with the Blast. The Soul will continue to turn to the veteran goalkeeper for defensive support.

League newcomer and Schaumburg native Ephraim Beard has made his way onto the radar after giving the Soul an offensive boost as of late, landing on the scoring board in two of Chicago's last three contests. Beard contributed two goals (four points) against the Blast on Friday.

Carlos Muñoz continues to lead the team in points with 27 on the season, while Bato Radoncic and Christian Meza have 22 and 21, respectively.

The Soul look forward to the return of Marco Sullo, who missed the last eight games due to a shoulder injury. Sullo will provide the Soul with a lift on the defensive end.

The Competition

The Soul's last date with the Comets was on December 9 and resulted in a loss for Chicago, with Missouri's Byron Alvarez leading the way. Powered by Alvarez's hat trick, the Comets defeated the Soul 14-11. Missouri has struggled since then, picking up losses in Syracuse, Baltimore and Wichita. The Comets most recently dropped 10-4 to the Wings.

The victory over Missouri gave Wichita its third of the season. Led by reigning league MVP Geison Moura, the Wings out-powered the Comets on a pair of goals from Moura and a goal from Miguel Ferrer, Kareem Yearwood and Frederico Moojen.
