May 19, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Chicago Slaughter News Release

The Chicago Slaughter (4-5), the premier indoor football team in the Chicagoland area, will host division rival Green Bay Blizzard (7-2) this Saturday evening at the Sears Centre Arena for the second of three meetings scheduled for the 2010 season. The Slaughter beat Green Bay on the road earlier this month and are seeking to secure a second victory at home. The Slaughter is currently in third place in the Central North Division behind the Bloomington Extreme (5-4) and the first place Blizzard. With just five games remaining in the regular season, the Slaughter remains focused on pulling ahead and securing a spot in the playoffs.

Fans are invited to get to the Sears Centre early on Saturday evening for a special pregame event with Slaughter Head Coach and 1985 Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bears great, Steve "Mongo" McMichael. A pregame rally will be held at 6:15 p.m. in the tailgate section of the Sears Centre (SW parking lot) where a large dump truck will be available for every Slaughter fan to shed, shred and trash their Green Bay paraphernalia. Slaughter fans who bring any green & yellow item displaying the words 'Green Bay' to be tossed into the garbage truck and crushed will receive a FREE TICKET to the next Slaughter home game on May 28th. Football fans are well aware of the Packers/Bears rivalry, which is the longest running one in the NFL. This weekend's match-up continues the rivalry between these two football powerhouse communities.

"I know our great Chicago fans don't have a lot of love for our rivals up North and want to see Green Bay get crushed both on and off the field on Saturday night," said Slaughter Head Coach Steve McMichael. "I'm looking forward to seeing all of the Green Bay junk crushed in the garbage truck during the pregame - jerseys, pennants, cheese-heads, T-shirts... anything with Green Bay on it... we want a pile of Green Bay garbage to smash."
