Chicago Slaughter News Release
The Chicago Slaughter, the premier indoor football team in the Chicagoland area, has signed Jarrett Payton, son of legendary Chicago Bears great Walter Payton, as the team's new running back for the 2010 season. Payton will play under the direction of head coach and former teammate of his father's, fellow 1985 Super Bowl Chicago Bears star Steve "Mongo" McMichael. The marquee signing demonstrates continued momentum heading into the new season, coming off the heels of the Slaughter's undefeated championship season in 2009. The announcement was made at a press conference held earlier today in downtown Chicago. Jarrett will honor his father's legacy by wearing #34 during the 2010 season with the Chicago Slaughter.
"There is a deep connection between my family and football fans in this town and I'm proud to begin the next chapter of that relationship," said Jarrett Payton. "There were a lot of playing opportunities for me this year, but I chose the Slaughter because I want to play for a winner, a great team with great coaches, great owners and the greatest fans."
"For all you Chicago football fans who, like me, were disappointed by having no one to cheer for in the NFL post-season... hang on to your hats, you ain't seen nothing, yet," said Chicago Slaughter head coach Steve McMichael. "Jarrett Payton is a high caliber player who was born with a football in his hands. The Slaughter is going to blow you away with the talent we are putting together for the 2010 season and will give you a reason to come out and cheer for a winning Chicago football team this spring."
