Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO - The WNBA Chicago Sky (11-20) close out the 2008 season this week with three final home games at the UIC Pavilion. The Sky will face the Washington Mystics (10- 20) on Tuesday, September 9 at 7 p.m., the New York Liberty (18-12) on Friday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m. and the Houston Comets (14-17) on Sunday, September 14 at 3 p.m. in the final game of the 2008 season that also doubles as Fan Appreciation Night with plenty of post-game festivities.
Heading into last week on a three-game winning streak, the Sky were unable to maintain the momentum and on September 4 fell to the Seattle Storm (21-10) 70-62 at home despite another great game from Jia Perkins who had 22 points and 4 rebounds. The following night, the Sky traveled to Connecticut and could not stop the red hot Sun (20-11), who defeated the Sky 80-75 en route to their eighth straight win. Jia Perkins led with 18 points, followed by 16 from Sylvia Fowles and 13 from Candice Dupree. On Sunday, September 7, the Sky were unable to hold on to an early lead and lost 69-61 to the New York Liberty. Perkins contributed 18 points and Fowles scored 14 points and 12 rebounds, but with the loss the Sky were officially eliminated from playoff contention.
FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT
The Chicago Sky will host Fan Appreciation Night during the final regular season game on Sunday, September 14 at 3 p.m. During the game fans will enjoy tons of giveaways, followed by a big post-game tailgating celebration.
