Chicago Rush to Host "Teddy Bear Toss for Red Cross"

The Chicago Rush is partnering with the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago for the inaugural "Teddy Bear Toss for the Red Cross" event. Fans will be encouraged to bring a new teddy bear to throw onto the field following the first Chicago Rush touchdown. This will be the first teddy bear toss in Arena Football League history. All of the bears collected from the toss will be donated to the Red Cross of Greater Chicago for children who are victims of disaster. Teddy bears will also be on sale for $5 prior to kickoff on the concourse level of the arena.

WHEN: Sunday, June 26th game against the Iowa Barnstormers. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. CST. The toss will occur immediately following the first Rush touchdown.

WHY: This event is aimed at raising awareness of the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago's mission as well as their efforts throughout the Chicagoland community. On average the American Red Cross responds to 3-4 house fires a day in the Chicagoland area and serves more than 5,000 disaster victims annually. Additionally, the American Red Cross works to prepare communities for the unexpected by training a quarter of a million people in skills like CPR and AED and trains children and families on how to be safe around fire and water.
