Chicago Rush 2005 schedule announced

October 28, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release

The Chicago Rush will begin its pursuit of the ArenaBowl XIX title when it opens the 2005 season in Dallas Sunday, January 30, at 2 p.m. against Jerry Jones' Desperados.

The Rush home opener is set for Week 2 of the AFL season, when Jon Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul travels to Allstate Arena for a Super Bowl Sunday matchup. Kickoff for the home opener is set for February 6 at noon, giving fans plenty of time to enjoy an entire day of football.

Other highlights of the 2005 schedule include a Week 11 home game against the defending ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats, and a Week 15 trip to Arizona to face the Rattlers – ArenaBowl runners-up each of the past three seasons.

In addition, Chicago's schedule in the newly realigned Central Division features home-and-home games with Colorado, Grand Rapids and the expansion Nashville Kats, owned by the Tennessee Titans' Bud Adams.

"Coming off another semifinal appearance, we are excited to see the 2005 schedule and cannot wait for the season to begin," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "We expect the Central Division to be especially tough, having to face two of the games best offensive specialists – Chris Jackson in Grand Rapids and Damian Harrell in Colorado – twice each.

The regular season will last 17 weeks, with each team receiving one bye week. The regular season concludes Sunday, May 22, with eight teams making the postseason. The playoffs will begin the weekend of May 28-29 and ArenaBowl XIX is slated for Sunday, June 12 in Las Vegas.

The Rush kicks off its fifth anniversary season with the opening of training camp in January and 2005 season tickets, beginning at just $64, currently are on sale. To reserve your tickets, or for more information about 2005 Rush season tickets, fans can call the Rush at (877) Rush-Tix (787-4849) or visit the team's Web site, www.chicagorush.com.
