Chicago Machine News Release

BOSTON, Mass. - Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced Monday that Chicago Machine attackman Mike Leveille had earned its Cascade MLL Rookie of the Week award according to MLL Commissioner David Gross.

Leveille scored four goals with an assist to lead the Chicago Machine to a 17-13 upset victory over the Los Angeles Riptide on Sunday afternoon, July 20, at TOYOTA PARK. He was named the Bud Light MVP as the Machine snapped Los Angeles' three-game win streak. The win was huge for Chicago. It was Chicago's first win over LA in the franchise's history, avoided a sweep by the surging LA over Chicago this season, and helped Chicago equal last year's season win total.

Chicago is now 3-7 with two games remaining in the season. The Machine plays the Outlaws in Denver this Saturday, July 27 and host the Rochester Rattlers at TOYOTA PARK on Sunday, August 10. The team has a bye the weekend of August 2-3.

Leveille ranks third on the team - behind only his brother, All-Star Kevin Leveille and All-Star Rookie Steven Brooks - with 26 points in eight games, scoring 16 goals with 10 assists.

Denver Outlaws attackman Matt Brown was named Offensive Player of the Week, Rochester Rattlers defenseman Brodie Merrill earned the Defensive Player of the Week award and Kip Turner of the Boston Cannons was selected as the Goalkeeper of the Week.
