Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO, IL (Feb. 12, 2010) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will play a President's Day doubleheader in their first matches of the 2010 preseason. In his first game as Fire head coach, Carlos de los Cobos will lead the Fire in a closed door exhibition against USSF Div. 2's Vancouver Whitecaps at 2:00 PM MST. Following the Whitecaps game, the Fire will take on the Arizona Sahuaros, in a match that is open to the public, at 4:30 PM MST at Arizona State Women's Soccer Stadium.
The friendly against the Vancouver Whitecaps gives the Fire an opportunity to play one of the NASL conference's premier clubs. The Whitecaps will join Major League Soccer, along with the Portland Timbers, as expansion clubs in 2011, giving MLS 18 teams across two conferences.
The Arizona Sahauros, founded in 1989, have played in a number of professional indoor and outdoor leagues over the course of their 21-year history.
Fire fans can follow all of the club's preseason action via En Fuego, Twitter or on Facebook.
The Fire will play host to the San Jose Earthquakes for Opening Night at TOYOTA PARK on Saturday, April 10 at 7:30 PM CT. Full Season Ticket packages are currently available and partial season ticket packages will go on sale beginning Feb. 16.
