
Chicago Fire FC Will Travel to Face D.C. United at Audi Field on Saturday

CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will travel to face D.C. United at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 at Audi Field. Saturday's match will be broadcast on WGN, CF97 Live, and transmitted locally in Spanish on Latino Mix 93.5 FM.
Chicago (0-0-1, 2 points) earned its second straight shutout of the season on Saturady, March 5, in front of 25,477 fans at Soldier Field, making it the second largest crowd for a home opener in Club history. Goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina tallied his sixth clean sheet in his 13th career start.
Leading the charge for the Fire against Orlando City were Designated Players Gastón Giménez and Xherdan Shaqiri. Giménez led the team in shots (3), shots on goal (1), dribbles completed (2) and recoveries (11). Shaqiri led the team in chances created (4), completed passes into the final third (11) and crosses attempted (8). Only defender Boris Sekulić had more touches (72) than Shaqiri (70) and Giménez (68) during the match.
Chicago and D.C. United (2-0-0, 6 points) are familiar foes, having faced each other on 65 previous occasions. The team's meet three times last season, tying 2-2 at Soldier field on July 21, 2021. D.C. took full points at home, winning 1-0 on May 13 and 3-0 at Sept. 15.
D.C. United enters the match coming off a late 1-0 victory on the road against F.C. Cincinnati on Saturday at TQL Stadium. D.C. went down to 10 men in the 80th minute after Moses Nyeman was sent off following a Video Review for a studs-up tackle on Acosta. A stoppage time handball call on Geoff Cameron inside the box awarded the visitors a penalty that Ola Kamara buried into the goal to seal the second straight victory for D.C.
