The Indiana Ice forced their matchup with the Chicago Steel into overtime and an eventual shootout. The Steel sent shootout snipers who have combined for 39 goals into the one-on-one against Indy goaltender Anderson Snair.

Indiana dispatched two skaters with a combined six goals on the season. That was difference as Chicago converted both their attempts to earn a 3-2 shootout victory Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Mitch Hults evened the contest at 2-apiece with a backhander midway through the third period. His lamplighter answered a Steel tally 16 seconds after the second intermission. Joseph Widmar and Vince Pedrie assisted the 6'2" forward on his third goal of the season.

"I came off a line change and timed it," commented Hults. " I faked a short hand and went back hand. The goalie went the other way."

The Ice scored once in the first period and the visitors matched the goal in the second stanza.

It took just over a minute for Indy to grab the lead. Patrick Newell won a puck battle in the corner of his offensive zone and fed Mikhail Plotnikov alone at the crease of Chicago netminder Alex Sakellaropoulos.

The Russian poked home his 14th goal of the season 1:16 after the opening puck drop. Jason Salvaggio earned an assist in the scoring sequence.

The visitors drew even potting a short-handed goal with 1:13 remaining in the second period. A breakdown on the power play gave the Steel a 2-on-1 and Ray Pigozzi made Indiana pay for the miscue.

The referee was busy sending skaters to the penalty box in the second period. Eight minor penalties were dished out, but the host's third power play proved costly by giving the "shortie".

Anderson Snair and a friendly goal post kept the contest close thourghout. His best save came in the 14th minute of the middle stanza when he denied Roos on a breakaway. Snair put in another strong effort stopping 30 Steel shots after logging a shutout Friday against Cedar Rapids. He also benefited from two shots clanging off the iron and away from his net.

Indy hits the road for a six-game away stretch before returning to Bankers Life on April 6th against Team USA.
