
Chicago Blaze Sign Kelley Gibson

Naperville, IL - The Chicago Blaze today announced that they have signed 5'10" guard Kelley Gibson (Univ. of Maryland), formerly of the WNBA Houston Comets. Gibson was added to the roster to replace Coretta Brown, who is out with a knee injury. "Kelley is exactly what we needed." said Blaze general manager Robert Graham. "She's got impressive professional experience, and is sorely needed at the guard position." The Blaze have been short-handed at the guard position, with the loss of Kim Williams and Coretta Brown.
Gibson joins the team this evening when they take on the San Jose Spiders on the road. She will be wearing number 10. Her first home appearance will be Friday, March 18 at North Central College when the Blaze once again take on San Jose.
The NWBL showcases professional women basketball players from across the nation, including players from the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) who choose to stay in the U.S. to play during the off-season. 2005 teams include the Birmingham Power, CHICAGO BLAZE, Colorado Chill, Dallas Fury, Lubbock Hawks, and the San Jose Spiders.
