Chicago Blaze defeat Houston to tie for first place

Naperville, IL - The Chicago Blaze improved to 4-2 on Sunday afternoon and remained unbeaten at home defeating the Houston Stealth 103-84. The Blaze were led by Taquilla Allen who scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Kim Williams added 21 points and 8 rebounds. Jamie Redd, (16 points), Tia Jackson (15 points) and Tugba Palazoglu (10 points) were also in double figures for the Blaze.

Kelley Gibson (20 points) led 5 Stealth players in double figures. Tamicha Jackson and Kym Hope each scored 19 points, while Octavia Blue and Beth Record finished with 10 points and 12 points respectively.

The Blaze will be on the road this week when they take on the Birmingham Power (Tuesday) and the Houston Stealth (Thursday). The will return home next weekend to take on the Springfield Spirit (Saturday, February 14) and the Dallas Fury (Sunday, February 15).

The Chicago Blaze is entering its third season in the NWBL. The Blaze will play a 22-game schedule through March 23 and will play its home games at Merner Fieldhouse located at North Central College in Naperville, IL.

The National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) showcases professional women basketball players from across the nation, including players from the WNBA who choose to stay in the U.S. to play during the off-season. The season is played from January through April and the teams include the Birmingham Power, CHICAGO BLAZE, Colorado Chill, Dallas Fury, Houston Stealth, and Springfield Spirit.
