Chicago Bandits defeat Akron Racers, 4-3

AKRON, OHIO.-Two players in completely opposite ends of the stat line registered all of the runs the Chicago Bandits.

Thanks to Stacy May and Samantha Findlay, the Chicago Bandits completed a National Pro Fastpitch sweep over the Akron Racers Tuesday night at Firestone Stadium.

May hit a solo home run in the third inning giving the Bandits (24-16) a 1-0 lead. It was May's tenth home run of the season, good enough to rank second in the NPF. The following inning, she added two RBI's giving her 27 this season (fifth in the league) and Chicago extended its lead to 3-0. May finished two-for-four increasing her batting average to .376, second in the NPF.

Akron (19-21) answered with three runs in the fourth and fifth innings and tied the game at 3-3.

It was not until the seventh inning-the Bandits final chance to prevent extra innings-that Findlay amidst a season slump with a league high 36 strikeouts and batting .181 hit her second game winning home run of the season, a solo shot giving the Bandits enough to beat the Racers.

Jessica Sallinger got the start for the Bandits and lasted 3 1/3 innings before giving way to Tracie Adix. Sallinger gave up three hits, one earned run and had three strikeouts. Adix pitched 2 1/3 innings-giving up Akron's final run-and Kristina Thorson (8-5) got the win with no runs and two strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

Jamee Juarez (0-4) failed to get her first win of the season, allowing two runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Chicago is now is a second place tie with the Philadelphia Force and trail the NPF leading Washington Glory by one game.

The Chicago Bandits are in its fourth season in the National Pro Fastpitch women's professional softball league. Established in 2005, the Bandits moved to Elgin, IL in 2008 and play at Judson University and in 2011 will complete a brand new stadium of its own in Elgin.
