CHARLOTTE, N.C.- For the second consecutive year, the Charlotte Checkers along with Sutter Home Family Vineyards, Goodrich Corporation, Empire Distributors, Inc. and Marsh have completed a Habitat For Humanity home for a deserving Charlotte family.

With the help of these partners, the Checkers were able to raise $65,000 to complete their second home. Each partner organization was dedicated to the completion of specific areas of the home with the Checkers front office constructing the building frame and drywall. The home that was completed last season was dedicated on July 23, 2008. With the finality of the construction, the Checkers became the first ECHL team in history to complete not only one but two homes with Habitat for Humanity.

The dedication took place on Tuesday, June 30 at 219 Bradford Street in Charlotte. The dedication concludes a season of fundraising for the Checkers totaling $315, 214. Additionally, the Checkers have raised a total of $1.1 million in fundraising over the course of the last three seasons.

The Checkers would like to thank Sutter Home, Goodrich and Marsh for their participation in this effort to give back to the great city of Charlotte and a community which has supported the team for the past 16 seasons.
