Chattanooga Steamers Select Team Logos

Chattanooga, TN 06-16-2005-The Chattanooga Steamers announced the selection of its two team logos today. The logos, which were two of twenty submissions by area artists, depict a riverboat superimposed over the classic red, white, and blue A.B.A. basketball, with a riverboat steering tiller enclosing the image. The second logo depicts the same style tiller modified to resemble a large "C," and has the Steamers name inserted within its border. Both logos are heavily invested with the team colors, which are red and black.

The logos chosen by the team were designed by DeAngela Blaney, who operates a graphic design studio in Atlanta, Georgia. Blaney stated that she was pleased that her designs were chosen by the team. John Tyner, President of the Steamers franchise praised the designs, and has "...high hopes that fans will embrace the new logos, and quickly identify the designs as being connected with its own professional basketball team."

The Chattanooga Steamers is the latest expansion team to be named to the American Basketball Association's 4th (Southeast) Division. Other teams in the division are located in Nashville, Atlanta, Orlando, and Miami. The Steamers will be announcing times for try-out camps in the near future. The Steamers' inaugural season will commence in November.
