Thurs., July 8 vs. Seattle W 70-67

Tynesha Lewis and Allison Feaster each scored 19 points for the Sting while Tammy Sutton-Brown added 16. Lauren Jackson paced the Storm with 24 points.

Sat., July 10 vs. Washington W 67-65

Allison Feaster tied her season-high with 20 points while Tynesha Lewis recorded 11 points for the Sting. Tammy Sutton-Brown tallied her fourth block of the game to preserve the win at the buzzer and Olympia Scott-Richardson swatted a career-high five shots. Chasity Melvin recorded a season-high 20 points for the Mystics.

Leading the Pack

The Sting are currently on a three-game win streak and have won eight of their last ten games. They sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 10-7 record.

Record Performances

Several Sting players enjoyed record performances this week as the Sting captured wins over the Storm and the Mystics. Tynesha Lewis recorded a career-high 19 points on Thursday, July 8 vs. Seattle. Olympia Scott-Richardson recorded a career-high and tied the Sting franchise high with five blocked shots on Saturday, July 10 vs. Washington. Allison Feaster tied her season-high with 20 points on Saturday, July 10 vs. Washington.

Winning the Close Ones

The Sting have played seven games this season that have been decided by five points or less (May 22 at Washington, 71-68; June 15 vs. San Antonio, 59-57; at Connecticut, 63-58; vs. Los Angeles, 68-63; vs. Detroit, 60-65; vs. Seattle, 70-67; vs. Washington 67-65). The Sting hold a 6-1 record in games that have been decided by five points or less.

Staley Dropping Dimes

Over the last three games, Sting guard Dawn Staley has dished out an average of 7.0 assists per game.

Feaster on a Tear

In the last four games, Sting forward/guard Allison Feaster is averaging 17.5 points per game. She has scored 15 or more points in each of the last four games and has led the team in scoring in each of those games.

Catch the Sting on WJZY-UPN 46 on July 18 at 4:00 p.m. as they travel to New York to face the Liberty and on July 31 at 10:00 p.m. as they play the Monarchs in Sacramento. The Sting will conclude their season on ESPN2 at 2:00 p.m. as they travel to Detroit on September 19.

Notes: This will be the second match-up between these two teams in as many games...It will be the third of four match-ups between these two teams this season...The two previous match-ups have been decided by a total of five points...On Saturday (7/10), the Sting held the WNBA's leading scorer Chamique Holdsclaw to only six points...It was Holdsclaw's lowest point output since June 28, 2002 at Portland when she scored just three points...In the two games against Washington this season, Sting guard/forward Allison Feaster has averaged 17.5 ppg...Chamique Holdsclaw leads the Mystics in scoring (20.4 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg).

Notes: This is the second of four match-ups between the two clubs this season...In their first match-up of the season the Liberty shot 52.1% (25-48) from the floor compared to 40.4% (19-27) by the Sting...Becky Hammon leads the Liberty in scoring averaging 12.9 ppg...Elena Baranova (11.2 ppg), Vickie Johnson (11.1 ppg), and Crystal Robinson (10.8 ppg) also average double-figures for the Liberty...The Liberty signed former Sting forward La'Keshia Frett on July 9, 2004... New York allows the lowest field goal percentage in the league holding their opponents to just 39.3% from the field...Liberty centers Tari Phillips (fractured fifth metacarpal of right hand) and Ann Wauters (stress fracture navicular bone of right foot) are on the injured list.
