Sutton-Brown on a Roll

Sting center Tammy Sutton-Brown had an outstanding all-around game on 5/28 as she led the Sting in points (16), rebounds (7), steals (3), and blocks (5). She recorded a new career high in free throws attempted with 11 and tied career highs in free throws made (10), steals (3) and blocks (5). Her five blocks also tied the Sting all-time record. In the first three games of the season, Sutton-Brown is averaging 11.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.67 blocks in 27.7 mpg.

Playing D

On Friday night (5/28) the Sting held the Indiana Fever to only 41 points (16-59 FG; .271 FG%). This point total was the lowest point total in Fever franchise history. This was also the lowest point total, lowest field goals made and lowest field goal percentage allowed in the WNBA this season. The 41 points by Indiana ties the second lowest point total by a Sting opponent in franchise history. The Sting allowed Seattle to score just 38 points on July 7, 2001 and allowed the Miami Sol 41 points on August 14, 2001.

The Sting lead the league in fewest points allowed per game (56.3 ppg) and fewest rebounds allowed per game (26.3 rpg).

Hitting the Road

After hosting the New York Liberty at the Charlotte Coliseum on Tuesday, June 1 the Sting embark on their longest road stretch of the season. The road trip begins on Thursday, June 3 at Connecticut followed by a game on June 5 at Indiana. The Sting then head west for the first time this season to face the Los Angeles Sparks on June 9 and the Phoenix Mercury on June 11.

Stinson Honored

Sting guard Andrea Stinson was honored on Friday, May 28 with the WNBA's Offseason Community Assist Award. Stinson made numerous appearances for the Sting during the 2003 offseason. In honor of her efforts a $500 donation was made to the charity of her choice, the Dawn Staley Foundation.

Catch the Sting on WJZY-UPN 46 on July 18 at 4:00 p.m. as they travel to New York to face the Liberty and on July 31 at 10:00 p.m. as they play the Monarchs in Sacramento. The Sting will conclude their season on ESPN2 at 2:00 p.m. as they travel to Detroit on September 19.
