Charlotte Eagles host Harrisburg Friday night

(Charlotte, NC) The Charlotte Eagles pro soccer team plays game three of the 2004 season on Friday night, April 16th at beautiful Waddell Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm, when the Eagles will host the Harrisburg City Islanders in another Lamar Hunt Open Cup qualifier. The Harrisburg City Islanders are a new team this year, but showed they are no push over in their home opener, with a commanding victory over the Northern Virginia Royals 5-2.

Charlotte has two games under the belt thus far this season, with a 3-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and a 2-3 loss to the 2003 PSL Champion Wilmington Hammerheads. The Eagles are moving closer to full strength again after some early season injuries. Veteran forward Dustin Swinehart is back in the line up, since missing the Wilmington game with a hamstring injury. First year defender, Ben Meek returned to the field at partial strength last week; his ankle sprain has since healed nicely. Jonah Long suffered a bad bruise on his heel and is probable for Friday nights game, but not at full strength. Still out with injuries are midfielder Declan Jogi and midfielder Erik Ozimek. Jogi re-injured his hamstring in a preseason match with Charleston, and Ozimek continues recovering from preseason shoulder surgery. Ozimek may be out till June.

Friday night is POWERade Schedule Magnet Night. The first 1500 fans through the gate will receive a FREE POWERade Schedule Magnet with the Eagles and Lady Eagles 2004 schedule. Friday is also a "VIC Five Dollar Friday". Fans that show their Harris Teeter VIC card at the ticket window will get $5.00 admission (regularly $8.00).
