2006 Home Opener - Charleston Battery vs Virginia Beach Mariners - Saturday, April 29, 7:30 PM

The Charleston Battery home opener is set for this Saturday, April 29 versus the Virginia Beach Mariners. Gates open at 6:30 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM. The Mariners roster includes former Charleston Battery striker Greg Simmonds. Simmonds scored twice last weekend as the Mariner opened their season with a 2-0 win versus the Toronto Lynx - Simmonds was named USL 1 Player of the Week following his two goal performance.

Battery teams up with Moes Southwest Grill

The Charleston Battery has teamed up with Moes Southwest Grill for the 2006 season; Moes is the title sponsor of the all new Fun Zone. This year's activities include a brand new custom human foosball court, a new penalty kick game, a hot shot game that measures how hard children can kick the soccer ball and a jump castle for the younger children. Moes Southwest Grill is providing prizes for winners of the various games. The Moes Southwest Gill Fun Zone is open at each Battery game from 6:30 PM, there is no additional charge for any of the activities.

To help kick off the partnership Charleston Battery players will be visiting various Moes Southwest Grill location this coming summer to assist with greeting duties and celebrity burrito production. Several members of the team will be at the Moes West Ashley location this Thursday at noon.
