Thunder and Lightning single game tickets on sale Tuesday

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Monday, April 24, 2006) - The Minnesota Thunder and Minnesota Lightning announced that single-game tickets for the 2006 regular season will go on sale Tuesday, April 25th at 10 a.m.

The first Thunder and Lightning home games that single-game tickets can be purchased for is a doubleheader on Saturday, May 27 at the National Sports Center in Blaine. The Lightning kicks off at 5:05 p.m. against the London Gryphons, with the Thunder game scheduled to follow immediately after at 7:35 p.m. against the Portland Timbers. With the price of a Thunder ticket, fans can watch both games.

For non-doubleheader games, single-game Lightning tickets can be purchased at $6 for youth (ages 3-17) and $8 for adults. Children under the age of 3 are free. Home games will be played at James Griffin Stadium in St. Paul, the National Sports Center in Blaine or Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium at the University of Minnesota.

Thunder single-game ticket prices range anywhere from $8 for youth (ages 3-17) to $22 for field reserved. Children under the age of 3 are free. Home games will be played at James Griffin Stadium in St. Paul or at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

TWO THUNDER PLAYERS NAMED TO USL TEAM OF THE WEEK

United Soccer Leagues announced Monday that Minnesota Thunder players Terry Alvino and Nathan Knox were named to the first USL First Division Team of the Week for week one after their performances in the Thunder's 4-0 win over the Seattle Sounders on Sunday.

Alvino, a midfielder, scored his first USL career goal in his Thunder debut to put the Thunder up 3-0 in the second half, while also assisting on Aaron Paye's goal. Alvino completed his senior season at the University of Dayton in 2005, where he made Second Team All-Atlantic Ten.

Knox assisted on the Thunder's first goal of the 2006 season when he slotted a pass to Melvin Tarley in the game's 14th minute. In the second half, Knox also assisted on Alvino's goal. A native of Christ Church, New Zealand, Knox played at Macalester College for four seasons and was a two-time All-American.

After a four-game road stint, the Thunder returns home on Saturday, May 27 when they face the Portland Timbers at 7:35 p.m. at the National Sports Center in Blaine. The game is the second of a doubleheader, with the W-League Minnesota Lightning making their franchise debut at 5:05 p.m. against the London Gryphons.
