Texas Charge News Release

Lancaster, PA, - The Pennsylvania Rebellion hosted the Dallas Charge tonight in the first of two games from Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, PA. The Charge bested the Rebellion by a final score of 5-2.

Dallas opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd inning when First Baseman Kaitlyn Richardson yanked a 2-run home run over the right field wall just over the head of the chasing Victoria Hayward.

The Rebellion were able to respond quickly with 2-run dinger of their own. After a single from Left Fielder Alexa Peterson, the game tying homer came off the bat of Third Baseman Chaley Brickey. It was her first hit and home run of her NPF career.

The middle innings of the game turned into a bit of a pitchers duel. Dallas Escobedo tossed five innings and gave up two runs on eight hits while striking out five. For Dallas, they were led by pitcher Lauren Haeger. She threw four innings with the only real blemish being the home run to Brickey. The final line on Haeger was two runs, four hits, and two strikeouts.

After Rebellion pitcher Emily Weiman threw a scoreless 6th in relief of Escobedo, she got herself into trouble in the 7th. After a single by Charge Catcher Vicky Galasso to lead off the inning, Dallas followed it with back-to-back bunt singles from Caitlyn Attfield and Nikia Williams to load the bases. Weiman was able to get the dangerous Dallas hitter, Nadia Taylor, to pop up to third for the first out of the inning. Clean up hitter Lauren Haeger then grounded out to first which allowed the go-ahead run to cross the plate. For the game-winning RBI and her strong performance in the circle, Charge Pitcher Lauren Haeger earned Powerhandz Player of the Game honors. Dallas Right Fielder Brianna Cherry added insurance when she plated two runs with a single to make it 5-2.

5-2 would be the final score after the Rebellion would be retired in order to finish the game.

The win goes to Rookie Charge Pitcher Jill Compton (1-0) who struck out the side in the 9th. The Fresno State product entered the game in the 5th inning, and after walking the first batter she faced, set down 9 straight Rebellion players to end the game.

The Rebellion (1-2) will play the Dallas Charge (1-0) tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm in Lancaster before coming home for their true home opener vs the expansion Scrap Yard Dawgs Sunday night at 8:05pm at Consol Energy Park in Washington, PA.
