Chaos Builds Early Lead in Win over Atlas

June 10, 2019 - Premier Lacrosse League (PLL)
Carolina Chaos News Release

Ryan Brown got Sunday's Atlas LC vs. Chaos LC matchup off to a hot start by scoring a goal for the Atlas within 8 seconds. The Chaos responded brilliantly by answering this with five straight goals, most notability a two-point bomb from Matt Rees, bringing their lead to a massive 8-1 scoreline early on. This first quarter start was just a sign of things to come for Rees, who was one of the stars of the weekend.

The Atlas were able to fight back and keep things close with three straight goals from Eric Law, Kevin Unterstein, and Kieran McArdle. This slight comeback gave hope back to the Atlas players, but they were never able to truly threaten the Chaos' lead.

Connor Fields had an unbelievable game with two goals that were out of a Hollywood movie. He started with his backhand goal against multiple Atlas defenders, to bring the Chaos up 10-5 on the day. Finally, he had a behind the back fake that left every defender in his wake and proceeded to score on the breakaway. A truly unbelievable game for the former Albany standout.

Miles Thompson was another can't miss Chaos player Sunday. He managed to rain down 4 goals on this Atlas defense, highlighted by yet another Chaos' behind-the-back goal.

The Atlas offense was never really able to get in full flow throughout Sunday's game with many of the stars being stifled by Andy Towers' Chaos team. Connor Buczek was one of the bright spots for the Atlas despite leaving the game with a dislocated shoulder and having it popped back into place. Upon coming back in, Buczek immediately scored a 2 point laser, to give some hope to the possibility of a comeback for the Atlas, still down 17-13.

However, another goal from the Chaos saw them take the final victory 18-13.

The Chaos plays again on June 15th against the Redwoods, in Chicago.

The Atlas play again on June 16th against the Chrome, in Chicago.
