Changes To Houston Takers Tryouts
June 6, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Houston Takers News Release
Houston, TX. It has been a busy offseason for the ABA Houston Takers - and it's for one common goal - to bring home the coveted ABA Championship to Houston. According to Larry Leonard II, the Takers' owner, "There have been changes concerning the tryouts and preparing for next season. The first tryouts will be held at Reagan High School in the heart of Houston Heights on July 20 and 21."
"We really want to see what Houston has to offer for basketball talent," added Head Coach Sam Smith. "We feel there may be another T.J. Ford or a Rashard Lewis out there that needs the opportunity to get noticed."
The previous scheduled tryout for Las Vegas has been cancelled. "We made that decision out of respect for the Las Vegas PROLYM scheduled to begin in November also. We didn't know if LV would be playing this season," stated Leonard, "but when we found out, we respect them and didn't want to be in their territory, so we will conduct ours only in Houston. Hope we didn't cause any inconvenience." For complete details about the Houston tryout camp, email houstontakers@yahoo.com, call 832 660 2468 or visit www.houstontakers.com or www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
