
Changes Afloat for Fans as Outlaws' Home Opener Approaches

Mason City (IA) If something continues to work there is no need to fix it, though complacency is the cooking pot for which failure is eventually stewed. Familiarity is a safety blanket, much like grandma and that special sauce she made every Sunday dinner. But even grandma occasional made adjustments to that special pasta sauce for the Sunday lasagna so as the flavor didn't grow old.
When the North Iowa Outlaws open the home portion of their 2008-2009 season on Friday at the Fairgrounds Arena at 7:30pm against the Owatonna Express, fans will see a number of familiar sights but will also encounter a few improvements made during the off-season.
- A completely new sound system was installed during the off-season, which the Outlaws' have augmented by utilizing a new music software that provides more selections and better quality.
- Computerized tickets which will cut down on lines at the front gate.
- A new family section, void of any alcohol, will be located in the first section of bleachers as fans enter the arena.
- A North Iowa tradition dating back to the 1980s, the "two-fer" goal promotion is back but will now take place for five minutes after the first Outlaws' goal, regardless of the period.
- The mezzanine section above the east goal has been renamed the Rib Crib Corporate Saloon and features a catered BBQ meal for groups which rent it out on a per-game basis.
- Finally, the Outlaws will be officially renaming their mascot during the pre-game ceremonies prior to the game on Friday against Owatonna.
The North Iowa Outlaws Hockey Club is in its fourth season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 33nd year of operation. For more information, visit northiowaoutlaws.com or call (641) 424-5468.
