SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 19, 2010 - San Antonio Silver Stars forward Chamique Holdsclaw underwent successful surgery yesterday to repair a torn Achilles tendon in her right foot.

Dr. Marque Allen, foot specialist, and Dr. Richard Steffan, orthopedic specialist, of the Texas Center for Athletes performed Holdsclaw's surgery. Holdsclaw will miss the remainder of the 2010 season but a full recovery is anticipated.

The 11-year veteran sustained the injury during the second quarter of the Silver Stars game at Minnesota on Sunday, Aug. 15; an MRI later revealed the extent of the injury and that it required surgery.

In 29 games played with the Silver Stars this season, Holdsclaw recorded averages of 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 29.0 minutes per game. She was third on the team in scoring and second on the team in both rebounding and steals.
