Cedar Rapids, IA (December 4, 2003) Today, the Cedar Rapids River Raiders, a member of the United States Basketball Association (USBL), announced Sean McLaughlin as the team's new General Manager because of his vast knowledge of minor league basketball system and will begin his new duties with the River Raiders immediately.

McLaughlin begins his new responsibilities with the River Raiders after being hired in September as the Assistant General Manager and Director of Operations. He will continue to work with half-time entertainment as well as day-to-day operations and marketing, he will also have more input in all aspects of the River Raiders organization.

McLaughlin is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska and received his B.S. in Sports Management with emphasis in Marketing from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska in 1998. He started in 1997 as an intern for the Des Moines Dragons of the International Basketball Association (IBA) and continued to work there through 2001 learning many different facets of a basketball organization. In that time the Dragons posted four winning seasons winning the IBA President's Cup, setting numerous attendance records and winning the IBA Organization of the Year award three consecutive years. McLaughlin has also held the positions of Director of Operations as well as Executive Director of the ten-team league in 2001 (IBA). He also worked for the Des Moines Menace soccer club and the Iowa Sports Connection sports newspaper headquartered out of Des Moines, Iowa.

The River Raiders will start its inaugural 30 game regular season (15 home games) in April of 2004 at the U.S. Cellular Center in downtown Cedar Rapids. The River Raiders are an expansion franchise of the 19 year old United States Basketball League. Season tickets are on sale now!
