CBA announces American Conference All-Stars

January 15, 2008 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release


ALBANY, NY (January 15, 2008) - The Continental Basketball Association today announced the All-Stars for the American Conference. Eleven players were selected, with two players being added due to injury and personnel matters.

The Albany Patroons will send center Amal McCaskill, the CBA's leading rebounder, and G/F Nat Burton to the game. McCaskill is presently averaging 21.3 ppg., good for fourth in the CBA, and is pulling down a league leading 11.8 rpg. for the Patroons. Nat Burton brings his multifaceted game and 19.2 ppg average to Yakima foe his first CBA All-Star Game.

The Minot Skyrockets will be represented by the active career point leader Ronnie Fields, in his third All-Star Classic appearance, as well as Kevin Rice and Sidney Holmes. Fields and Rice will not participate in the All-Star game. Taking his place is fellow Skyrocket Marshall Phillips. Holmes, Mr. Everything for the Skyrockets, is averaging 10.5 ppg. And 7.8 rpg and is the focal point of the Skyrockets defense. Phillips is averaging 14.9 ppg. and 7.9 rpg for the Skyrockets this season.

The East Kentucky Miners will have three representatives at the All-Star Classic; James "Boo" Jackson and Josh Pace, as well as the newly-signed Mike Dean, who earned his totals as a member of the Rio Grande Valley Silverados. Dean, a recent pickup by the Miners, is leading the CBA in scoring, averaging 24.5 ppg. Pace is currently third in scoring, 23.2 ppg. and Jackson is 6th with 20.6 ppg for the expansion Miners. All three players give the Miners a dangerous set of weapons every single night.

The Pittsburgh Xplosion's two representatives will be Shaun Fountain, in his second All-Star Classic; and John Strickland, who was recently signed by the Xplosion after a stint with Minot. Fountain makes a return trip to the All-Star Game as he was a participant in last year's game in Butte. Fountain is scoring at a 17.6 ppg. clip and dishing out 6.1 apg, good for second in the CBA. New York City playground legend Strickland has 14.8 ppg. and 5.9 rpg. on his current resume and is a dangerous passer out of the post.

Representing the Atlanta Krunk will be Steve Thomas and Zeck Marbury. Thomas, a force on the block for head coach Kenny Anderson, is pulling down 11.3 rebounds to go along with 12.2 ppg. Marbury is 8th in the CBA scoring, 20.4 ppg., and 4th in assists, 5.2 apg. for the Krunk. Thomas and Marbury give the Krunk a formidable
