
Cavs Take Miners for 2-0 Series Lead

LAWTON, Okla. - The Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry turned up the heat at the Great Plains Coliseum Saturday night, beating the East Kentucky Miners 95-84.
Cavs forward Elvin Mims fired up the crowd during the game. Mims had another double- double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
The Cavs controlled the boards helping them to the first quarter lead. Impenetrable defense by the Cavs made it possible for them to hold on to that lead for most of the game.
"We played great defense again tonight. We are trying to protect our home court," Cavs Coach Micheal Ray Richardson said.
Cavs fans had a little scare in the second quarter when guard Brandon Dean went to the court hard from a foul. Dean was able to return to the court at the start of the second half and led the Cavs with 24 points.
The Cavs win was helped by the team shooting 75% from the free throw line.
Cavs center Shaun Daniels and guard DeAnthony Bowden also hit double digits in scoring. With Daniels putting up 18 points and grabbing 8 rebounds and Bowden putting up 21 points, to bring his series total to an impressive 50 points.
The Cavs had a remarkable 24 assists in the game and caused the Miners to commit 21 turnovers. Catch the Cavs back in action at 2:05 Sunday at the Great Plains Coliseum.
