Cavs Poison The Millrats

Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release


LAWTON, Okla. - The Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry swept the Manchester Millrats tonight with a final score of 104-89.

Elvin Mims scored the first points of the quarter that would prove to start slow. Tim Ellis scored the most points with 8 and mad 100% of his free throw attempts.. Ellis also had 1 assist and 3 steals. Manchester struggled with turnovers and totaled 9 in just the first quarter. The Cavs had 8 assists, 2 blocks, and 6 steals at the end of the quarter. The final for the quarter was 27-18 in favor of the Cavs.

Brandon Dean was on fire in the second quarter scoing the most points with 8. Dean made 2-2 of his three point shots. Shaun Fountain scored 7 points and had 1 assist. Rashad Woods is fouled with 21 seconds remaining in the quarter by David Cooper. Woods makes both free throw shots. The teams head to the lockeroom for halftime with the Cavs ahead with a score of 54-39.

The Millrats came back from halftime determined to try and turn it around. Manchester led in fouls with 5-3. Mims scored the most points in the third quarter for the Cavs with 8. Mims also had 1 block and 1 steal. The Cavs increased their free throw percentage in the third with a total of 83%. The Cavs kept their lead at the end of the third with a final of 80-62.

The Millrats scored more points in the fourth quarter than the Cavs with 27-24 but it was not enough to hold back the Cavs. Ellis made a defensive rebound with 11:28 left in the quarter to secure his double double. Ellis ended the game with 14 rebounds and 12 points. Dean was the high scorer of the game with 20 points.

The Cavs invade Buffalo, NY at 6:30 p.m. CST on Mar 13 at the Koessler Athletic Center on the campus of Canisius College to go battle the Buffalo Stampede.
