
Cavs Choose Rice and Gallon

LAWTON, Okla. - The Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry have made their choices from the 2011 PBL Draft that was streamed at 9 p.m. Oct 28 from the Sox Park in the Us Cellular Field in Chicago.
The Cavs first draft pick was Denarryl Rice from Arkansas Tech University. Rice scored 641 points and tallied a team best 401 point record during the 2005-2006 season with Arkansas Tech. He finished at 10th on the school's career three point field goals with 117.
Rice signed with the Yakima SunKings in Jan 2008 where he had a 4:1 Assist-to-Turnover ratio. He then signed with the CSU Atlassib Sibiu in Romania in Aug 2008 where he scored one point for every minute of play. In Jan 2009 he signed with MBK Handlova where he was in the top 5 in the league in steals and assists.
The Cavs second draft pick was Keith "Tiny" Gallon from OU. In 2009-2010 Gallon was ranked eighth in the Big 12 in rebounding. He averaged 10.3 points and a team high 7.9 rebound in 24 minutes of play in his freshman year. Gallon shot a team high .547 from the field. He finished sixth in the league and first in freshman in double-doubles with 7.
The expansion teams in the PBL received the first picks and returning teams selected in order of won-loss record. The Rochester RazorSharks and the Quebec Kebs received a draft pick as compensation for a trade that they were able to utilize after all teams had selected in that round.
In round one of the draft the Dayton selected Tayloe Taylor from Livingstone, Kentucky selected Luke Fitzgerald from Cumberlands, Quebec selected Emanuel Willis from Houston Baptist, Saint John selected Marc Egerson from Delaware, Vermont selected Joe Jones from Edinboro, Halifax selected Aaron Spears from St. John's, Rochester selected Steffon Farley from Adelphi, Lawton-Fort Sill selected Denarryl Rice from Arkansas Tech and Rochester selected Ewan Linton from Pikeville.
In round two of the draft Kentucky selected Marcus Thompson from Seton Hill, Dayton selected Marcus Johnson from Dayton, Lawton-Fort Sill selected Tiny Gallon from OU, Rochester selected Mervyn Clarke from Oakland City, Halifax selected Kyle Cuffe from St. John's, Vermont selected Andy Robinson from Buffalo, Saint John selected Ridley Johnson from Toledo, Quebec selected Romauld Augustin from Bryant and Quebec selected Sebastien Salois from Northern Michigan.
