Topeka Pilots News Release
The Cavalry continue their graduation success with two new NCAA D1 commitments. Tim Hartung has committed to play for the Northern Michigan, while goalie Brian Papcun is going to Quinnipiac. They join Eric Trax (Robert Morris) and Peter Shenk (Air Force), bringing the total for the first-year team up to four.
"I wish Tim Hartung and Brian Papcun the best of luck in their college careers and thank them for their contributions on and off the ice," says Cavalry head coach Trevor Converse. "Both Tim and Brian have a passion for the game that will be welcomed by Northern Michigan and Quinnipiac."
Hartung, from Apple Valley, MN, was the Cavalry's leading scorer with 17 goals and 41 assists. "Tim has exceptional hockey sense, he makes things happen when he is on the ice," says Converse. "He has good vision and can play in traffic. He makes players around him better."
Papcun joined the Cavalry in January, going 10-7-1 with a 2.41 GAA and .916 save% down the stretch. "He has been extremely consistent," says Converse. "His mental preparation and focus level is one of a professional. He is a quiet leader but when he speaks everybody listens to what he has to say. He received interest from several colleges and will be an excellent Division 1 goaltender."
