Cats take two games from Santa Fe

The Wildcats went on the road over the weekend to play a three game stand against the Santa Fe Roadrunners. The Wildcats won two out of the three games and outscored the Roadrunners 11-7.

The Wildcats defeated the Roadrunners 6-3 in the first game of the series on Thursday night. Peter Zamkochyan had his first multiple goal game as a Wildcat, scoring two goals and adding one assist. Kyle Kraemer also scored two goals and had one assist for the Cats. Adam Cardwell and Dan Medenwaldt each scored one goal and one assist for the Wildcats, while Chris Ochoa added three assists and Dan Sexton had two assists. Sean Nealon, Paul Velo, and Andrew Conboy each added one assist. Goaltender Thomas Billick was in net for the Wildcats and won his fourth straight game.

The Wildcats dropped their first game of the season on Friday night falling 2-1 to the Roadrunners. The Cats got on the board first with a goal by Alexander Molnar. The goal was assisted by Chris Nuttini and Sean Nealon. The Roadrunners scored two goals in the third period to defeat the Cats 2-1. Dan Ramirez was in net for the Wildcats and was handed his first loss of the season.

The Wildcats bounced back from the loss with a 4-2 win on Saturday night. Kyle Kraemer scored two goals for the Cats and added an assist in the victory. Dan Medenwaldt and Kyle Pidde each added goals for the Cats, while Nicholas Ghidina, Chris Ochoa, Chris Nuttini, Jordan Novak, and Alex Molnar all added assists. Tom Billick had 33 saves on the night recording his fifth win, and remaining undefeated on the season.

The Wildcats improved their overall record to 6-1 on the season and remain tied for the lead in the NAHL south division. They will be on the road for the next two weeks. They will play two games at the Springfield Spirit this weekend, and the following the Cats will be playing four games at the Minnesota Showcase. The Wildcats will return home on Thursday, October 27th, at 7:00pm and on Saturday, October 29th at 7:00pm to take on the Santa Fe Roadrunners.
