Fort Worth Cats News Release
Greg Strickland doubled home the game-winning run in the seventh inning as the Cats edged the Aviators 2-1 in the second game of a doubleheader Friday night at LaGrave Field.
Cats' starter Matt Harrington threw a seven-inning complete game allowing just a run on four hits to earn his first win of the season.
The game was tied 1-1 going into the seventh before Ricky Gomez scored on the Strickland double to left.
The win improves the Cats' record to 6-3 after their doubleheader sweep of Coastal Bend.
In game one, the Cats scored four runs in the first inning without the benefit of a hit en route to an 8-6 win. Coastal Bend starter Hector Hinojosa lasted just 1/3 of an inning and walked the first four men of the game.
Strickland was 2-for-3 with two runs scored in game one.
Allen Davis earned his first win as a Cat as he went five innings and allowed four runs on seven hits.
Coastal Bend's Eric Battersby was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in game one. It was the first Aviators home run of the season.
The Cats and Aviators continue this series in Robstown on Saturday and Sunday. Shad Williams will pitch for the Cats and Mike Smith goes for the Aviators on Saturday.
