Cats Release 2004 Schedule

Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats announced today the team's schedule for the 2004 season. An Independence Day game at LaGrave Field highlights the Cats' 96-game Central Baseball League schedule. The Central Baseball League All-Star Game will be played at LaGrave Field, July 20. The Cats open the season on the road May 6 at Amarillo. The team's home opener is set for May 10 against the Edinburg Roadrunners. The regular season runs through August 21 with the playoffs scheduled Aug. 23 â Sept. 4.
"We are exciting about playing at home on the Fourth of July," said Cats general manager Monty Clegg. "Last season we let 500 fans sit on the left field warning track during the game and set a CBL record for attendance with 9,217. We have a couple of things planned for the Fourth of July in 2004. We are also looking forward to hosting the All-Star Game on July 20.
"We had a number of special events last season including retiring Bobby Bragan's Cats jersey and a visit by Sparky Anderson. We'll retire another player's jersey in 2004. We're renovating the ballpark this off-season. The fans will see some noticeable changes at LaGrave Field. It's our goal to provide affordable, family fun and to lead the league in attendance again. We have a great combination of enthusiastic fans and top-notch promotions that will help us attain those goals. Our fans are really looking forward to the 2004 season."
The Cats led the Central Baseball League in attendance in 2003 with an average of 3,674 fans a game. Over 161,000 fans came through the turnstiles at LaGrave Field last season.
The Central Baseball League will consist of eight teams in 2004. Fort Worth remains in the East Division with Jackson, Pensacola and Shreveport. The West Division includes Amarillo, Edinburg, Coastal Bend and San Angelo.
