Pensacola Pelicans News Release

Fort Worth seemed to take control of the game in the first inning, loading the bases with no one out but could only manage plating one run in the inning. Carlos Adolfo hit a fielder's choice to score Terrence Green who led off the game with a base hit.

Pensacola's first three hits resulted in three runs, all solo shots--one from Rafael Alvarez in the first inning and then by Juan Rocha and Trino Aguilar in the second inning. After the three homeruns, the score was 3-1 after two innings of play.

The Pelicans added one more run in the 4th inning when Trino Aguilar singled in Nestor Smith.

Fort Worth cut the lead to one in the 5th inning thanks to a two-run blast from Tony Mota. Terrell Merriman scored on the homer after leading off the inning with a walk. In the bottom of the inning, the Pelicans got that run back when Carlos Mendoza hit a deep sacrifice fly to score Bryan Lentz who doubled to left-center to lead off the inning.

After a scoreless 6th inning, the Pelicans were once again faced with the bases loaded full of Cats with no one out. This time, Fort Worth was able to score three runs, two coming from a Jordan Foster double down the right field line, which gave the Cats their first lead since the first inning at 6-5. In the bottom of the inning, Pensacola threatened to break the game open, loading the bases with one out. Justin Garcia came on in relief and induced a 4-6-3 double play off the bat of Rafael Alvarez to end the inning and momentarily secure the lead.

Fort Worth would add one more run in the 9th inning with an opposite field solo shot from Carlos Adolfo making the score 7-5.

Juan Figueroa came on in relief to finish the 8th and 9th innings securing the win with his second save in as many days. Fort Worth will now move on to play for the CBL Championship against the San Angelo Colts.
