
Cats deal for LHP Justin Garcia

The Fort Worth Cats have acquired left-handed pitcher Justin Garcia from Evansville in the Frontier League in exchange for future considerations.
In 2004, his first professional season, Garcia was 5-5 with a 4.20 ERA in 13 games with the Otters. Garcia allowed 53 hits and struck out 57 in 60 innings of work last season. He started eight games and posted a 4-3 record with a 3.59 ERA as a starter.
Garcia, 25, played college baseball at Lubbock Christian where he was 6-8 with a 6.08 ERA in 15 games in 2004. He struck out 102 and walked 41 in 87 1/3 innings pitched.
He was born in Dallas and currently resides in Grand Prairie.
