Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats announced today their promotional schedule for the 2003 season. The opening homestand highlights the fact that the organization is celebrating the 115th Anniversary of the beginning of professional baseball in Fort Worth.
The home opener, May 7 against Coastal Bend, features magnetic schedules, 115th Anniversary commemorative cups and a fireworks display. The Cats will giveaway 115th Anniversary logo baseballs (May 9) and 115th Anniversary T-Shirts (May 10) on the opening homestand.
"We pride ourselves in providing affordable family fun," said Cats general manager Monty Clegg. "One of the things our fans look forward to each season are our unique promotional giveaways. The fact that we are celebrating the 115th Anniversary of professional baseball beginning in Fort Worth makes this season even more special.
"We will have a fireworks display every month of the season. We have two bobblehead giveaways featuring two key figures in the history of the Cats, Bobby Bragan and Sparky Anderson, as well as a bobblebelly of our mascot. Our fans are the best in all of minor league baseball and we always want to give them a chance to take part in our premium giveaways."
The Cats will hand out 1,500 items on the premium giveaway dates. A lottery system will be used to distribute the bobble items.
Some new promotional events slated for this season include St. Patrick's Day in June (June 17), Sparky Anderson Night (June 28), Nerd's Night with Myron Noodleman (July 3) and Little "e" (minature Elvis, July 25). The Cats will also feature many popular events from last year including Dio de Gatos (June 14), Airwave Dave as Austin Powers (June 27), You Might Be A Redneck Night (July 2) and Think Blue Week (July 21-27).
