Catch Red Hot 'Tide on Blue Moon Night

June 30, 2007 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
New England Riptide News Release

If you haven't been to see the New England Riptide play the Philadelphia Force you don't know what you have been missing! Saturday, June 30, 2007, come view the "once in a blue moon" full moon and see a potential Riptide sweep! The weather will be perfect for a Saturday night out at the park, clear skies will give you a great view of the second full moon in one month, so don't miss this chance!

Saturday is the last day of this home stand so don't miss seeing your favorite Riptide players in action before they hit the road. Next home game is not until July 11, 2007 versus the Michigan Ice, so to prevent any Riptide withdrawal, come on down to Martin Field in Lowell, MA for the last game of this four game series. First pitch is at 7:05 PM.

The pitching has been unhittable, the defense spectacular (how about Alex Sutton robbing a Force grand slam by pulling a ball back into the park from the top of the wall?) and the offense timely - Shanel Scott is on a stolen base tear!

Highlights of the series thus far...

Shanel Scott scores, sliding between the legs of the Force catcher. Shanel has stolen over 18 bases this season so far. Her beautiful head first slides wreak havoc for the defense and she has even tagged up from third to home on a short foul ball!

Garland Cooper has been ripping the ball. She picks up right where she left off at Northwestern. Garland has been playing either first base or the Extra Hitter position. Her hit to the wall Friday night was an example of her offensive prowess. Come see her continue her power and possibly hit one out. Maybe she will hit one further than Alex Sutton whose scoreboard clearing home run might still be flying over 495!

Jess Merchant has been busy tagging out Philadelphia Force would-be stolen base runners. The combinations of KJ Kelley's quick release and Merchant's tags have been ending many potential Force threats. Who will the next victim be? Come on down and see!

You never know when a mascot, or two, or three, might show up! Jackie Pasquerella has developed a pre-game handshake with Bean, mascot of The Boston Baked Bean. Come and get your exclusive limited edition Riptide Beans - Ace and Swoopy! Even if you can't make it to the park on Saturday, Wednesdays and Thursdays are Hot Dog and Bean nights! On Wednesdays buy one Hot Dog and get a second free! On Thursdays be one of the first 50 lucky fans to get your very own Riptide beans!

And finally, don't miss out seeing some old friends like Kellie Wilkerson. Kellie is quite expressive, so don't miss your chance to see all the action!
