Philadelphia Force News Release

Lowell, MA- The Philadelphia Force took game four of their series with the New England Riptide by a score of 3-1. Margo Pruis (2-0) got the start and went all seven innings to earn the victory.

Shortstop Chelsea Spencer led the Force (7-9) offense by going 3-for-3 and scoring two runs on the night. She was a double short of the cycle. Her effort raised her league-leading batting average to .468.

Pruis was great in the circle. She only allowed four hits and one run, a solo home run to catcher KJ Kelley in the fifth inning. Pruis struck out four batters in the victory, which ended a three-game skid for the Force.

Spencer and the Force started the scoring in the third inning. With second baseman Emily Friedman on first base, Spencer tripled to left field to plate the first run, and when the relay throw from the shortstop got away, Spencer scored to make it 2-0 for the Force.

The Force added an insurance run in the sixth inning off of Riptide pitcher Jocelyn Forest (1-4) and again it was Spencer. She connected with her third home run and ninth RBI of the season to give the Force a 3-1 lead.

The Riptide (12-8) threatened to tie the score in the bottom of the seventh inning. With a runner on first base and two outs, the Riptide sent in Tarrah Beyster to pinch hit. Beyster hit a deep fly ball to left field that was hauled in by Stacie Pestrak to end the game.

Left fielder Megan McAllister also had a good night at the plate by going 2-for-3.

The same two teams meet up again to start a four-game series on Wednesday, but this time it will be at ECTB Stadium in Allentown with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.

The Force have many activities plan for the Independence Day game. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. fans can enjoy the sounds of Bennigan's own Green Mountain Rebels Band as they perform classic rock. Singing the National Anthem that evening will be 15-year old Bioni Cordero, who was a second place winner in the Mayfair Idol. Plus the Force will have their very own Uncle Sam to throw out the first pitch.
