Detroit Shock News Release

Detroit, MI - Detroit Shock all star forward, Swin Cash, hosts a Sunday afternoon festival at the Pistons Hoop City Grille to raise funds for youth. The event will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 28 and end at 7 p.m. Shockfest, presented by the Metro Detroit Ford Dealers and the Detroit Shock, will be set up outside of the Grille to provide plenty of fun and festivities for kids of all ages. Pistons Hoop City Grille is located at 25333 West 12 Mile Road in Southfield, MI 48034-1832 phone (248) 357-HOOP.

Admission to the event is free, and donations are encouraged for Cash for Kids. There will be a silent auction with items from the WNBA and the NBA as well as items from the Detroit Tigers, so fans will want to bring their checkbooks as all proceeds will benefit area youth through Cash for Kids. Food and drink will be available for purchase from the Pistons Hoop City Grille.

Invited guests include fellow Shock teammates and coaches as well as Detroit Lions players (TBA). Our young fans will be able to romp around with team mascots such as the Shock's Zap and the Detroit Tiger's Paws.

Cash for Kids was established in 2005 by Swin Cash in an effort to provide youth the resources to "get in the game". The charity was launched in April of this year, joining Feed the Children with a food distribution effort in Detroit at Focus:Hope a nationally recognized civil rights and human rights organization. Focus:Hope operates a community food bank and day care facility among other services for those in need. Cash has been joined in her efforts by many of her teammates as well as Coach Bill Laimbeer.
