Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release

Bossier- Shreveport BattleWings head coach Jon Norris has decided that Quincy Carter, who has missed four consecutive games, will start at quarterback for the BattleWings against Corpus Christi Saturday night. "Quincy has looked sharp in practice this week," Norris said. "It didn't take him long to knock the rust off." Carter, the former Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets starter, led the BattleWings to five victories in six starts. Gary Cooper started the last four games, winning three of four. "Having Quincy Carter on our team has created a buzz in the community," said BattleWings owner Dan Newman. "It will be good to see him back under center Saturday. I know our fans are excited to realize he will be back in uniform."

Carter is among af2 leaders in several offensive categories. He averages 8.3 yards per play, best in the league. His is 3rd in passing efficiency, second in yards per completion, sixth in passing average and eighth in total offense. "Quincy knows he can be an integral part of a special season for the BattleWings," Newman added. "The rubber's about to meet the road as far as our schedule is concerned. As we make a playoff push and hope to win our division, having a quarterback with his level of experience and poise can only help."

"Quincy has done everything that's been asked of him and is earning the respect of his teammates," Norris said. "He's our starting quarterback"

The BattleWings have three regular season home games remaining in 2007: This Saturday against Corpus Christi, July 7th against the Arkansas Twisters and July 14th against the current division leaders, the Rio Grande Valley Dorados. The Dorados' only loss this season is to the BattleWings. Order tickets by phone at (318) 741-9700 or on-line at Ticketmaster.com
