Carrozzi Named to Canadian Under-18 Squad

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors are pleased to announce that goaltender Chris Carrozzi has been named to the Canadian National Men's Under-18 Team. He is among the 22 players that will represent Canada at the 2008 IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship taking place in Kazan, Russia from April 13 to 23.

During the 2007-08 regular season, Carrozzi compiled a 25-18-2-0 record and was among the league leaders in goals-against-average (2.75), save percentage (0.911) and shutouts (4). As a 16 year-old, during his rookie campaign of 2006-07, Chris registered a 6-7-1-1 record with a 4.30 goals-against-average and a 0.896 save percentage. The native of Nepean, Ontario was originally picked in the 3rd Round of the 2006 OHL Priority Selection by the Majors.

The Canadian roster is comprised of players born in 1990 or 1991 whose teams have been eliminated from the Canadian Hockey League playoffs. Their head coach will be legendary bench boss Pat Quinn. The other OHL players that will join Carrozzi in Russia include Josh Brittain (Kingston), Tyler Cuma (Ottawa), Matthew Duchene (Brampton), Ryan Ellis (Windsor), Taylor Hall (Windsor), Cody Hodgson (Brampton), Greg Nemisz (Windsor) and Eric O'Dell (Sudbury). TSN/RDS will broadcast Canada's final preliminary-round game, versus Slovakia, on Friday, April 18, as well as the medal-round games between April 20 and 23. Check your local listings for more information.
