The Speed, an expansion team in the American Indoor Football Association for the 2006 season looks to compete immediately. The Speed tryout combine will consist of a 40 yard dash, L. Drill, 20 yard shuttle, skill testing, and individual position drills. Players are encouraged to bring their resume, game film, and proper athletic attire (outdoor cleats/tennis shoes a must/no rainouts). Registration starts Saturday, November 11th at 2pm. "If you are a player looking to make it to the next level, this is where you want to be," says Mink. Last week, the Speed signed 11 players from this region, 4 from Florida and 1 from Alabama. The AIFA's goal is to send as many players as possible to the NFL, AFL, CFL, and NFL Europe. "We don't restrict our players from moving up the next level, we encourage it. This is your chance to play pro-football and make something of yourself." says Mink.
The Carolina Speed are coming to the greater charlotte-concord area and begin play in February 2007. Carolina Speed is looking forward to entertaining the local community and supporting local businesses. This is the second step in their goals towards winning the championship.
