Carolina Rhinos To Visit Roanoke Saturday

GREENVILLE, SC – The League office of arenafootball2 and the Carolina Rhinos have announced several changes to the team's roster. Offensive / defensive lineman Leon Buchanan, offensive / defensive lineman Max McCoy and defensive specialist Domarco Fox have been released from the team's roster. Wide receiver / linebacker Cliff Shavers and wide receiver / defensive back Jody Wade have been removed from the active roster. Offensive / defensive lineman Scott Buchanan and wide receiver / defensive back Mal Lawyer have been activated, Lawyer off of the injured reserve. Defensive specialist Terrence Crimiel, fullback / linebacker Pierre Campbell and offensive / defensive lineman J.J. Brown have been added to the roster.

Despite missing the past two games, Lawyer still leads the Rhinos with 11 receiving touchdowns and 514 receiving yards, one kick-return touchdown and 359 kick-return yards, and 72 points.

Brown rejoins the Rhinos after playing with the Arena Football League's New Jersey Gladiators last season. The 6'4, 274-pound former South Carolina Gamecock was a member of the inaugural Rhinos team in 2000. Campbell is a 6'0'', 235-pound rookie from Cheyney while Crimiel, a 6'1'', 175-pound rookie from Alcorn State, joins the Rhinos after spending most of this season on the practice squad of the AFL's Grand Rapids Rampage.

The Rhinos will visit the Roanoke Steam tomorrow, Saturday June 22nd, at 7:30 p.m. It will be the second meeting of the season and all-time between the teams. Roanoke beat the Rhinos 45-14 at the BI-LO Center two weeks ago. The Rhinos will visit the Columbus Wardogs next Saturday June 29th at 7 p.m. and will return home to host Columbus on Saturday July 6th.

The Rhinos are tied with Columbus for third place in the Eastern Division with a 2-8 record including 1-4 on the road. Roanoke is in third place in the Atlantic Division two and a half games out first place with a 5-6 record including 2-2 at home. Rhinos road games are broadcast live on 1070 "The Sportszone" WCSZ-AM and at rhinosfootball.com. In addition, 1070 "The Sportszone" broadcasts "Rhino Talk" featuring head coach Rod Miller and special player guests Mondays from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. live from Wild Wing Café in downtown Greenville
