
Carolina Rhinos Shuffle Roster Heading To Norfolk

GREENVILLE, SC â The League office of arenafootball2 and the Carolina Rhinos have announced several changes to the team's roster. Offensive specialist Rico Cannon has been traded to the Cape Fear Wildcats for future considerations. Fullback / linebacker Rashaan Kearney and offensive / defensive lineman Leon Buchanan have returned to the active roster. Wide receiver / defensive back Jami Oates, who has played for the Arena Football League's Tampa Bay Storm and is a former South Carolina State University teammate of current Rhino Jermaine Derricott, has been assigned to the team. Wide receiver / linebacker Robert Garth and offensive / defensive lineman Scott Buchanan have been placed on injured reserve.
The Rhinos will visit the Norfolk Nighthawks tomorrow at 7 p.m. This will be the only meeting between the teams this season and the fourth all-time. The Rhinos are 2-1 versus the Nighthawks winning both games last season including 60-45 in Norfolk in the most recent meeting. Tomorrow's game will be broadcast live on 1070 "The Sportszone" WCSZ and at rhinosfootball.com beginning at 6:45 p.m.
The Rhinos enter this week's game in fourth place in the Eastern Division with a 2-4 record on the heels of last Saturday's 56-32 home loss to the division-leading Augusta Stallions. They did, however, win their most recent road game 56-48 against the Greensboro Prowlers on May 12th. Tomorrow's game is the first of a stretch in which the Rhinos will play two straight games, as well as four of their next six away from home. They will visit the Louisville Fire next Friday, return home to host the Roanoke Steam on Friday June 7th and the Cape Fear Wildcats Saturday June 15th then head back on the road to visit Roanoke Saturday June 22nd and the Columbus Wardogs Saturday June 29th.
Norfolk enters tomorrow's game in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with a 1-5 record on the heels of a 57-32 road loss to Cape Fear last Saturday. The Nighthawks feature quarterback Chris Wallace who made his debut with the team last week. Wallace was a member of the original Rhinos team from the 2000 season.
