Charleston, SC. Major League Soccer's Toronto FC lost 3-1 to Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday in Antalya, Turkey as they continue their preseason preparations. Toronto will join Major League Soccer's D.C. United and Chicago Fire plus the Charleston Battery for the 2011 edition of the Carolina Challenge Cup March 5 - 12 at Blackbaud Stadium, Charleston, SC.

Gianluca Zavarise scored the lone goal for Toronto FC just before half time; Toronto was missing captain Dwayne De Rosario and Adrian Cann who played in Canada's 1-0 loss to Greece the previous day and arrived back in camp just an hour before kickoff.

Toronto FC defeated Red Star Belgrade 1-0 last Sunday behind a goal from former Toronto FC Academy player Matt Stinson.

The Chicago Fire signed Uruguayan forward Gaston Puerari, a 25-year-old striker from Montevideo Wanderers. Puerari, a native of Paysandu, Uruguay, scored eight goals in 35 games with Wanderers since the start of the 2009 season. Before Wanderers, Puerari scored six goals in 30 games with Rampla Juniors.

D.C. United goalkeeper Steve Cronin will be sidelined eight to 10 weeks with a broken left wrist and miss at least three MLS regular season matches. Cronin was injured during Tuesday's training session in Fort Lauderdale, FL but will not require surgery.

DC United will be the Charleston Battery's first opponent in the Carolina Challenge Cup; the two teams square off at Blackbaud Stadium on Saturday, March 5, kick off is set for 7:15 PM.
