Carolina Challenge Cup Schedule Set

Charleston, SC. The tournament schedule for the 2012 Carolina Challenge Cup has been set with the defending champions D.C. United opening the tournament versus the Chicago Fire on Saturday, February 25 at 5 PM . The Charleston Battery will play its first match of the week long round-robin tournament that same evening with a 7:15 PM kick off versus the Columbus Crew.

On Wednesday, February 29 Columbus and Chicago will face off in the early game starting at 5 PM with the Battery taking on D.C. United at 7:15 PM .

The Carolina Challenge Cup concludes on Saturday, March 3 with United playing the Columbus Crew at 5 PM and the Battery taking on the Chicago Fire in the tournament finale at 7:15 PM.

Tickets will go on sale at 9 AM, Tuesday, November 29 with single day tickets (includes two games each day) starting at just $15 with discounts available for groups of ten or more. Series tickets that include tickets for all three matchdays are also available. 2012 Charleston Battery season ticket holders receive complimentary tickets to the games.

The Carolina Challenge Cup is the premier pre-season tournament in the US . Each year the Battery is joined by three teams from Major League Soccer for the round-robin competition. Beginning in 2011 the tournament also featured a youth element as the MLS teams brought their USSF Academy sides to Charleston for a parallel USSF Academy tournament.
