Carley Earns 1st Win as T-Yanks Beat 'Tees,

TAMPA, Fla. - Sean Carley pitched five shutout innings and won his first game in exactly one year as the Tampa Yankees (34-28, 76-55) defeated the Brevard County Manatees (15-47, 38-92), 4-1 on Saturday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Carley, Eric Ruth and Travis Hissong combined to tally 12 strikeouts and hold the Manatees to one run on two hits.

Devyn Bolasky started a Tampa rally in the third with a one-out triple to the wall in right-center. Wes Wilson then gave the Yankees the lead with an RBI single up the middle. One out later, Jeff Hendrix blooped a double into shallow left. A walk by Gleyber Torres loaded the bases and Wilson scored as Trey Amburgey reached on an infield single towards third.

Tampa doubled its lead in the fifth. Wilson lined a leadoff single into center and Jorge Mateo followed with a walk. A fly out by Hendrix allowed Wilson to tag to third, prompting Mateo to steal second. Torres then served a single into right, scoring both.

Carley (W, 1-0) faced a minimum of 15 batters in five scoreless frames. Jose Cuas drew a walk in the third, but was picked off by Carley. Corey Ray singled in the fourth, but was caught stealing second by Wilson. Carley struck out six and threw 47 of 65 pitches for strikes, earning his first win since 8/27/15 with the Charleston RiverDogs.

Ray collected the only hits by Brevard County, going 2-for-4 with a single and a leadoff home run in the seventh against Ruth.

RHP Cody Ponce (L, 2-7) allowed four earned runs on seven hits in six innings, walking two while striking out three. Ponce threw 56 of 87 pitches for strikes.

Hissong (SV, 3) struck out the side in the eight and worked a 1-2-3 ninth, earning the save in his first game back with Tampa.

Torres (1-for-3, BB, 2RBI, SB) has 6RBI in the series. Wilson (2-for-4, RBI, 2R) and Amburgey (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) each recorded an RBI and a multi-hit game. Mateo (1-for-3, BB, R, SB) leads the league with 35 stolen bases.

The Yankees will go for a sweep of the series in the finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. LHP Justus Sheffield (2-1, 2.14 ERA) is scheduled to pitch for the Tampa against LHP Kodi Medeiros (4-11, 5.77 ERA) for Brevard County.
